Hello all! This year Student WEA will be taking part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
This will be on May 4th-5th in the Kachel Field House. If you are wondering, “what is relay?” then visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esdA6RMpm3I for an inside look at what to expect and why we relay. The theme this year is Disney, and our theme is Toy Story…SWEA Story! Start gathering up your cowboy gear, buzz lightyear toys, and little green aliens! We will compete in various competitions throughout the night and can win prizes on our theme, so start brainstorming!
If you would like to be a member of our Student WEA team, please visit https://secure.acsevents.org/site/TRR/RelayForLife/RFLCY13MW/1734698205?pg=ptype&fr_id=48583. There is a $10 registration fee for each registering member that must be paid via credit/debit card at the time of registration. If you are a cancer survivor, this fee is waived and there are instructions for how to register as a survivor on the registration page 🙂
Once registered, team members are urged to start fundraising! Ask your family, friends, co-workers, etc. to support you and us in the fight against cancer! They can donate to you via cash, checks made to the American Cancer society, or through your online team page. (If donating online, you must provide them with your personal link that you will receive after registering.)
If you raise $100, The American Cancer Society will give you a Relay for Life participant tshirt and you will be eligible for other milestone prizes.
Student WEA is taking the tshirts up a knotch this year!
We will be creating our own tshirts that will be $15.00 each. On these tshirts is a section to have names put on in honor or memory of a cancer patient you may know. These shirts will be worn by all SWEA team members the night of Relay and there after. This is a very cool way to have your loved one remembered or honored while we are walking!
How it works:
For a $10 donation to your relay account, you can have their name put on our shirts.
Know a friend how had a relative with cancer? If they donate $10 to your relay account, we can put their person’s name on our shirts too!
Ask family, friends, etc. if they would like to honor or remember someone and donate to a wonderful cause that is working everyday to save lives!
We will have order forms at the next general member meeting on February 25th. Order forms MUST be turned in NO LATER than April 15th! We need to have time to get them printed before Relay 🙂
